Often treading the peripheral of fast-moving innovation when it comes to sneaker offerings, Nike’s latest release, the OverBreak SP takes on familiar form reflected from the 70’s vintage classic of the Daybreak and the modern-day style of this year’s ISPA OverReact.
Dressed in a premium suede, leather and synthetic fabrication, the upper is inspired by the classic Daybreak silhouette first released in the 1970’s. Housed in a brown colourway, contrasting purple swooshes complete the Daybreak tinged upper before moving onto the sneaker’s stand-out midsole unit. With clear technical-hiking cues, it is crafted from React foam present in the OverReact. Complete with a tread-like design, a grippy gum toe-cap and black supports either side of the sole unit.
Taking the cross-contamination of design into play, SEVENSTORE dissect the architectural inspiration behind the sneaker with a curated editorial set in the heartland of Liverpool.
Seeped in the rich history of new and old, Liverpool encompasses a variety of architectural styles of the past 300 years, merging together an eclectic vision of modern and timeworn shapes and silhouettes of the cityscape. A basepoint of inspiration for a collective brand mix, this editorial incorporates garments from Craig Green, Raf Simons, Undercover, Aries and Homme Plisse Issey Miyake among others, to display an amalgamation of the contrasting world, much to the design DNA of the Nike OverBreak SP. A repurposed fragment of modern design perspectives.
